PET

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a relatively new imaging modality that is used extensively in oncology and to a lesser extent in cardiology and neurology. MIA has recently installed a brand new PET/CT scanner at Frankston Private Radiology.

PET has the advantage over conventional imaging techniques of being able to detect disease in non-enlarged lymph nodes. This allows more accurate staging and restaging of growth.
